Ciscomani Broke His Promise to Lower Costs, Protect Health Care, Defend Clean Energy Tax Credits

PHOENIX — Arizonans condemned Congressman Juan Ciscomani after he betrayed his promise to his constituents and voted in favor of the Republican Tax Scam that would throw 300,000 Arizonans off their health insurance and raise costs for low-income Arizonans to fund trillions in tax giveaways to the wealthiest Americans and corporations.

The Republican Tax Scam also:

• Increases health insurance costs for hundreds of thousands of Arizonans by 87% a year on average and puts 27,746 in Congressman Ciscomani’s district at risk of losing health insurance 

• Cuts food assistance for 11 million, including kids, seniors, and veterans

• Takes away cost-saving energy tax credits that help Arizonans afford clean energy upgrades and encourage job creation in the state

"Congressman Ciscomani talks about how important Medicaid is for people like me and my family in southern Arizona, and then he turns his back on us by voting to gut our access to health care," said Garrett Newell, a constituent of Congressman Ciscomani, who suffers from cerebral palsy and receives Medicaid. "Ciscomani is trading away our futures to pay for another tax giveaway to the rich."
