ICYMI: Arizonans Greatly Benefiting from Inflation Reduction Act Clean Energy Investments

Ciscomani Voted To Eliminate Cost-Saving and Job-Creating Energy Tax Credits

PHOENIX — The Inflation Reduction Act is creating clean energy jobs and making access to clean energy more affordable for Arizona businesses and homeowners, yet Congressman Juan Ciscomani has voted to eliminate many of the energy tax credits that make renewable energy much more accessible.

Congressman Ciscomani voted for the Default on America Act that would have repealed the Inflation Reduction Act’s clean energy production tax credits and home energy rebates.

According to Cronkite News:

The state gained about 18,130 clean energy jobs and $11.8 billion in private investment related to the IRA in the two years after it became law, according to a report from Climate Power, a group that promotes alternatives to fossil fuels.

Eligible energy projects can receive a 30% tax credit for construction costs, plus a 10% bonus for projects in low-income communities. The IRA expanded the original tax credit provisions, established under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, by $10 billion.

The IRA also targets homeowners with incentives for installing solar panels, heat pumps, insulation and more efficient water heaters and appliances.

“Despite Congressman Ciscomani's votes to overturn key pieces of the Inflation Reduction Act, the law has created clean energy jobs and made clean energy more affordable for Arizona families and small business owners,” said Andrea Moreno, executive director of Honest Arizona. “Congressman Ciscomani needs to stop standing in the way of Arizona's incredible growth as a clean energy hub and start recognizing – with his votes – that the Inflation Reduction Act is lowering costs for Arizonans.”
