ICYMI: Schweikert’s Social Security & Medicare Record on Display at WM Open

PHOENIX —  Congressman David Schweikert’s record of favoring raising the retirement age and his 12 votes to cut Social Security or Medicare were on display this weekend at the WM Open in Scottsdale.

A billboard truck featuring ‘Whole Life’ – Advancing AZ’s latest ad airing across the district – passed through high traffic areas and senior centers along the route. In the ad, Deborah, one of Schweikert’s constituents, calls out the Congressman for his decade-long record of threatening Arizonans’ hard earned benefits.

“Arizonans – even golf fans – expect their elected leaders to protect their hard-earned Social Security and Medicare, but Congressman Schweikert has betrayed those Arizonans,” said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. “It’s time for Congressman Schweikert to stop supporting measures that would take away their health care or keep costs high.”

Nearly 1 in 5 Arizonans rely on Social Security benefits—approximately 1,468,715 million people in the state. AARP estimates that 45 percent of Arizona residents 65 and older rely on Social Security for at least half of their income.
